Short answer

Write your listing as a set of clear answers. Collect the real questions shoppers ask, write one plain answer sentence for each, then place those sentences in your title, bullets, description, A+ and attributes. Test the top questions in Rufus and fix any answer it gets wrong.

Rufus answers questions in plain language using what Amazon knows about your product. If the answer isn’t written clearly somewhere it can read, it can’t use it. So the writing job is simple to describe: make every important answer easy to find and hard to misread.

The writing workflow

  1. Build a question bankPull questions from your customer Q&A, competitor Q&A, 3-star reviews, support emails and question-style search terms. Keep the shopper’s own words.
  2. Group and rankGroup them into buying decisions: fit, size, use, safety, ingredients or materials, care, comparison. Rank by how often they come up.
  3. Write one answer sentence per questionAnswer first, then the proof. “Fits 13-inch laptops up to 0.7 in thick” beats “roomy design for all your devices.”
  4. Place each answerTop decisions go in the title and first two bullets. Detail goes in later bullets and A+. Measurable facts also go in attributes.
  5. Rewrite for peopleRead it out loud. Cut repeats and filler words. Keep keywords where they fit naturally.
  6. Test in RufusAsk your top questions about your product and two competitors. Note wrong, vague or missing answers.
  7. Fix and retestFill the gaps, wait for the listing to refresh, then ask again.

A bullet template that works

Benefit in shopper words + the specific fact + who it’s forOne bullet, one buying decision. Lead with the answer.

Before and after

An illustrative example for a kids’ water bottle:

Shopper questionWeak copyAnswer-first copy
Will it leak in a backpack?Premium leak-proof design for every adventure.Leak-proof when the lid is locked: the flip straw closes with a click and the lock stops it opening in a bag.
Is it dishwasher safe?Easy to clean.Lid and straw are top-rack dishwasher safe. Hand wash the bottle to protect the print.
What age is it for?Perfect for kids.Made for ages 3 and up. The soft straw is easy for small hands to open.
How much does it hold?Generous capacity.Holds 14 oz, enough for a school morning, and fits most car cup holders.

Where each answer should live

TitleProduct type, the main use and one key spec. No claim lists.
BulletsOne buying decision per bullet, answer first.
A+ ContentComparisons, how-to-use steps and “who it’s for” in readable text.
AttributesSize, material, age, count, compatibility, filled in every field.

Copy checklist before you publish

  • Every top-10 question has a clear answer in text, not only in an image.
  • Vague words like “premium” or “high quality” are replaced with facts.
  • Who it’s for, and who it isn’t for, is stated plainly.
  • Sizes, quantities and compatibility match the attributes exactly.
  • Claims are truthful and compliant for your category.
  • No hidden text or instructions aimed at AI tools.
  • It still reads well to a human shopper.

Do

  • Use the shopper’s own words
  • Answer the question in the first half of the bullet
  • Fix what reviews say is confusing

Don’t

  • Repeat the same keyword five times
  • Copy competitor wording
  • Promise results you can’t back up

FAQ

Can you guarantee Rufus will recommend my product?

No one can. Amazon hasn’t published how Rufus chooses products. What you can control is whether your listing clearly and truthfully answers the questions shoppers ask, which helps Rufus, regular search and human shoppers.

How is writing for Rufus different from normal Amazon SEO?

SEO copy focuses on including the right keywords. Rufus-ready copy also answers specific questions in plain sentences: who it’s for, what fits, how big, what it’s made of, how it compares. Keywords still matter, they just sit inside clear answers.

Where should answers go in my listing?

The most important answers go in the title and first bullets. Details and comparisons go in later bullets, the description and A+ Content. Measurable facts go in catalog attributes too. Anything shown only in an image should also be written in text.

How many questions should I plan for?

Start with the 15 to 20 questions shoppers ask most about your product type. That usually covers the main buying decisions without stuffing the listing.

How does this guide differ from your Rufus optimization guide?
