FBA sellers lose between 1% and 3% of annual revenue to unclaimed reimbursements every year. That is not a small number. On a business generating $500,000 annually, it represents up to $15,000 sitting unclaimed in Amazon's system money your business has already earned but never received.
Amazon's fulfillment network processes millions of orders daily. Inventory gets lost in warehouses. Units get damaged during receiving or fulfillment. Customer returns go unreturned or arrive back in unsellable condition. Fee discrepancies appear in weight and dimension charges. Inbound shipment units go missing between your supplier and the fulfillment center. Amazon is obligated to reimburse sellers for all of these scenarios but it does not proactively notify you when it owes you money.
The reimbursement process requires sellers to identify discrepancies themselves, match them against transaction records, prepare supporting documentation, and submit claims through Amazon's case management system within strict filing windows. Each claim type has different eligibility criteria, different documentation requirements, and different deadlines. Miss the window and the reimbursement is lost permanently.
Most sellers know reimbursements exist. Very few have the time, the systems, or the expertise to pursue them consistently. The result is recoverable revenue that quietly disappears quarter after quarter while the business focuses on everything else that demands attention.
