How to Write an Amazon Plan of Action That Gets Approved

When Amazon suspends an account or removes a listing, the Plan of Action is usually what decides how fast you get back. Most rejected appeals fail for the same reasons: vague, defensive, or not answering what Amazon asked. Here’s how to write one properly.

Short answer

A good Plan of Action names the real root cause, lists the specific fixes you have already made, and explains the process changes that will prevent it happening again. It is short, factual, takes responsibility and answers exactly what Amazon flagged.

The three-part structure

1 · Root causeWhat actually went wrong, and why
2 · Corrective actionsWhat you have already fixed
3 · Preventive measuresWhat changes so it doesn’t repeat

1. Root cause: be specific and honest

Read the notice carefully and identify the exact policy or metric involved. Then find the real reason. “We made a mistake” isn’t a root cause. “Our listing template carried an old claim into five new ASINs because nobody reviewed copy before upload” is.

Don’t blame Amazon, buyers or competitors. Even if you feel it’s unfair, a defensive POA rarely gets approved.

2. Corrective actions: what you have already done

  • Removed or fixed the listings, claims or products involved
  • Refunded or contacted affected buyers where relevant
  • Reviewed the rest of your catalog for the same problem
  • Gathered documents Amazon may need, such as invoices, test reports or authorizations

3. Preventive measures: show the process changed

  • A named person or step that reviews listings before they go live
  • A regular check of Account Health and policy warnings
  • Supplier or quality checks, if the issue was product related
  • Training for whoever handles listings, inventory or customer messages

A simple POA template

  1. OpeningOne or two lines: the ASINs or issue, and that you’ve investigated and taken action.
  2. Root causeShort bullet points naming exactly what went wrong.
  3. Corrective actions takenBullets of what you’ve already done, with dates where useful.
  4. Preventive measuresBullets of the process changes now in place.
  5. Supporting documentsA short list of what you’ve attached and why.
  6. CloseA short, polite request for reinstatement. No threats, no emotion.

Common reasons appeals get rejected

MistakeWhy it failsDo this instead
Vague root causeAmazon can’t see that you understand the problemName the exact cause and the ASINs affected
Future-tense fixes only“We will…” shows nothing has changed yetShow what you have already done
Long, emotional lettersReviewers look for facts, fastUse headings and bullet points
Wrong or missing documentsClaims can’t be verifiedAttach clear invoices or documents that match the account
Answering a different issueThe appeal doesn’t address the flagRespond to the exact policy named in the notice
One clean appeal beats five rushed ones. Take the time to get the first submission right.

FAQ

What is an Amazon Plan of Action?

A Plan of Action (POA) is the written appeal you send Amazon to explain what caused a policy issue, what you have already done to fix it and what you will do so it doesn’t happen again.

What are the three parts of a POA?

Root cause (why it happened), corrective actions (what you already fixed) and preventive measures (the process changes that stop it recurring).

How long should a Plan of Action be?

As short as it can be while still being specific. Simple headings and bullet points work better than long paragraphs. Amazon reviewers want facts they can check.

Can a POA guarantee reinstatement?

No. Amazon makes the decision. A clear, honest and specific POA with supporting documents gives you the best chance, but nobody can promise an outcome.

Where do I submit a Plan of Action?

In Seller Central, go to Account Health, open the specific issue and use the appeal option shown there. Respond to the exact issue Amazon has flagged.

Trustworthy partner in the Amazon business

I can say that I've found in CommerceKind a reliable and trustworthy partner in the Amazon business.

Before starting our collaboration I had several talks with Hamza where he showed to me the strategy and forecast with accuracy and realism; then after almost 3 months into the partnership I can state that his team's approach is deeply rooted into reality and efficiency since they operate on several sides of the seller account: ppc advertising and listing improvement, taking control over all issues that pop up when handling the operational side as well.

The weekly catch-up and open communication on everyday workflow makes them an asset in our structure.

After cycling through 3 agencies that overpromised and underdelivered, I was ready to manage everything in-house again. Giving CommerceKind a shot was a last-ditch effort, and I'm glad I did. The biggest difference is the communication. I have a dedicated account manager who actually understands my brand and sends me weekly Loom videos walking through the numbers. It finally feels like I have a real partner, not just a vendor.

They rescued our supplement launch

We were launching a new supplement in a brutally competitive category and our initial attempts were a disaster. We were burning cash on PPC with almost no sales and stuck on page 5. The CommerceKind team came in, completely overhauled our listing copy and A+ content, and built a launch strategy from scratch. Within 60 days, we hit the #1 New Release badge and are now holding strong on the first page for our main keywords. They literally saved the product.

True full-service management

I was spending 20+ hours a week in Seller Central dealing with inventory headaches, stranded listings, and fighting with support. Handing the reins to CommerceKind has been a massive weight off my shoulders. They handle everything from A to Z, and I've been able to get back to what I'm actually good at—developing new products. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone.

Look at the TACoS, not just the ACoS

Our previous agency bragged about a low ACoS, but our overall sales were completely flat. CommerceKind explained how to use PPC to actually drive organic rank. They restructured our campaigns, cut a ton of wasted spend, and reinvested it into keywords that actually moved the needle. In four months, our TACoS dropped from 18% to 11% while our total revenue increased by 40%. The numbers speak for themselves.

Our conversion rate doubled

We had a great product in the home goods space, but our listing looked amateur and our conversion rate was stuck at 7%. CommerceKind's creative team did a full redesign—new main image, clear infographics, and a gorgeous Brand Store. The difference was immediate. Our conversion rate jumped to 15% in the first three weeks, which made all our ads way more profitable too.

Great Partner to Scale Our Business!

We have been working with CommerceKind for over 2 years, and they have helped us grow our Amazon business from the ground up. They've handled everything from product launches to PPC management, and the results have been great. Sales have steadily grown, and our ACoS is the lowest it's ever been.

What I really appreciate is how proactive and responsive they are. Anytime we have had a question or needed adjustments, they're quick to jump in with solutions. It feels like they truly care about our success, not just running ads.

Highly recommend CommerceKind if you're looking for a reliable partner to scale on Amazon!
