Why hair care is different on Amazon
Hair care buyers shop by hair type and problem. Someone with fine, oily hair and someone with thick, coily hair can search for the same “moisturizing shampoo” and want very different products. They read ingredients, look for results on hair like theirs and reorder what works. That makes three things the foundation on Amazon: listings and images that speak to a specific hair type and concern, copy that stays inside cosmetic claims, and a repeat-purchase plan, because a shampoo that wins a customer can sell to them for years.
Claims: hair growth, hair loss and scalp care
Hair growth and scalp products are some of the most searched in the category and some of the easiest to get wrong. In the US, a product that claims to regrow hair, treat hair loss or treat dandruff is generally regulated as a drug, while a cosmetic can talk about the look and feel of hair, such as fuller-looking, thicker-feeling or less visible flakes. Amazon removes listings with unapproved drug claims. We write listings, images and A+ Content that sell the benefit within cosmetic wording, and where a product is an OTC drug we make sure the listing matches its approved labelling. Rules differ by marketplace and change over time, so we confirm wording per product; we are not legal advisers.
Aerosols, hazmat and hot tools
Dry shampoo, hairspray, mousse, heat-protect sprays and some alcohol-based or colour products usually go through Amazon’s dangerous goods review, which needs a current safety data sheet and can change how inventory is stored. We submit documents and check every ASIN’s status before stock ships. Hot tools have their own checks: electrical safety certifications, voltage and plug type for each marketplace, and clear heat settings and plate sizes so buyers order the right tool and returns stay low. Our Amazon compliance documents service covers the wider document side.
Creative that shows results on real hair
Hair care converts on proof. We plan main images, infographics, A+ Content and video around texture shots, before-and-after on real hair, routine steps and ingredient call-outs, with models that reflect the hair types the product is made for, including curly, coily and textured hair. Variation images show every size and scent clearly, and comparison charts help a buyer pick between your shampoos, masks or tools instead of leaving for a competitor. See our Amazon A+ Content service for how we build brand content.
Subscribe & Save, sets and PPC built on margin
Shampoo, conditioner and treatments are repeat purchases. We enroll them in Subscribe & Save with discount tiers that fit your margin, build shampoo-and-conditioner sets and routine bundles that lift order value, and plan gifting sets for Q4. Our Amazon PPC management separates hair type, concern and ingredient searches from broad category terms, protects branded searches and sets bids from contribution margin. We manage $3M+ in monthly ad spend across our clients. In one private-label account we fixed the main image, copy and A+ Content first and then rebuilt PPC: ad sales doubled (+102%) and ACoS fell from 25.08% to 11.79%, see the listing-first case study. Results depend on product, margin and category, and we share a plan for your brand after reviewing your account.
Salon brands, resellers and price
Professional and salon hair care brands often find their products on Amazon from distributors and diverted stock, sometimes old or counterfeit. Through Amazon brand protection and Brand Registry we take control of listing content, report counterfeit and infringing listings and help you enforce your reseller and MAP policies; Amazon itself does not enforce MAP, so the policy stays yours. Brands that sell to Amazon wholesale can use our Vendor Central management.
Every Amazon marketplace, plus TikTok Shop
We run Amazon in the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Europe and other marketplaces; see Amazon international expansion. Hair care also sells on TikTok Shop through tutorials and routines, which we run in-house as an Official TikTok Shop Partner: see our TikTok Shop agency for beauty brands. Agencies with hair care clients can offer this under their own brand through our white-label Amazon account management.
