Amazon handles millions of units, and some of yours will get lost, damaged or refunded without being returned. Amazon pays many of these back on its own, but not all. Here’s how to spot what you’re owed and file a claim before the window closes.
Check your Reimbursements report and Inventory Ledger every month, look for lost or damaged units, refunds where the item never came back and inbound shipments that arrived short, then open a case with the IDs and proof. Do it soon: each claim type has a deadline, and missed ones can’t be recovered.
| Claim type | Report to check | Proof to have ready |
|---|---|---|
| Lost or damaged in warehouse | Inventory Ledger, Reimbursements | SKU, dates, unit counts |
| Inbound shortage | Shipment reconciliation | Packing list, carrier proof of delivery |
| Refund without return | Customer Returns, order reports | Order ID, refund date |
| Wrong return condition | Customer Returns | Order ID, return reason |
| Fee error | Fee preview, product dimensions | Your own measurements |
Our team reviews your inventory, returns and shipment reports, files valid claims with the right evidence and follows each case through, as part of our reimbursement and FBA work. You keep full ownership of your account; we work through user access.

Often, yes. Amazon reimburses many lost or damaged units on its own after investigating. But some cases are missed or paid at the wrong value, so it’s worth checking your reports regularly.
Each claim type has its own window, and Amazon has shortened several of them in recent years. Check the current deadline for each claim type in Seller Central Help and review your reports at least monthly so nothing ages out.
Start with the Reimbursements report, Inventory Ledger, Customer Returns and your shipment reconciliation. Comparing them shows units that went missing, refunds without returns and shipments that came up short.
The shipment or order ID, the units involved and proof such as invoices, packing lists or carrier proof of delivery. Clear, specific cases get resolved faster than vague ones.
If you have many SKUs and shipments, a service can save time. Make sure they file only valid claims, explain how they’re paid, and work with user access rather than your password.
