Margin model
Vendor Central net margin after co-op, allowances and deductions compared with Seller Central margin after referral, FBA and ad costs, product by product.
CommerceKind is an Amazon agency that moves brands from Vendor Central (1P) to Seller Central (3P), or into a hybrid of both. Our in-house team plans the timeline around your remaining purchase orders, secures catalog and detail page control through Brand Registry, resets pricing and margins for 3P, sets up FBA or your own fulfilment, moves Amazon Ads to Seller Central and watches the Buy Box closely while Amazon sells through its remaining stock.

Which ASINs move first, how remaining POs and Amazon’s 1P stock are handled, and when to switch, so sales do not drop out.
Brand Registry and detail page contribution rights checked, so your Seller Central offers attach to the existing ASINs and keep their reviews.
3P prices set from margin and your pricing policy, and the Buy Box watched daily while Amazon sells through remaining 1P inventory.
FBA inbound plans, prep and labelling, or Seller Fulfilled Prime from your own warehouse, set up before the switch.
Amazon Ads rebuilt in Seller Central with the same keywords and learnings, and reporting moved from vendor to seller data.
| Vendor Central (1P) | Seller Central (3P) | Hybrid | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who sets retail price | Amazon | You | You on 3P ASINs, Amazon on 1P ASINs |
| How you are paid | Wholesale invoices, minus deductions | Sales minus referral, fulfilment and ad costs | Both |
| Inventory | Amazon buys through POs | You send stock to FBA or ship yourself | Split by ASIN |
| Main risks | Chargebacks, shortages, falling POs | Account health, inventory and fees | Buy Box conflicts if not planned |
| Best for | Brands that want simple wholesale volume | Brands that want pricing control and customer data | Large catalogs with different needs by product |
We build a product-level margin model for 1P and 3P and agree which ASINs move, stay or go hybrid.
Seller Central, Brand Registry, FBA, pricing, listings and ads set up before any change to POs.
ASINs moved in stages, with the Buy Box, stock and sales watched daily while Amazon sells through its stock.
Once on 3P, listings, ads and inventory are run for growth, with a monthly report against the 1P baseline.

Vendor Central is simple when purchase orders are steady: Amazon buys wholesale and handles everything after that. But many vendors see POs become less predictable, margins squeezed by co-op, allowances, chargebacks and shortage deductions, and retail prices set by Amazon in ways that clash with other retailers. Seller Central gives the brand control of pricing, inventory and customer data, at the cost of running more of the operation. For some brands a hybrid, with some ASINs on 1P and others on 3P, works best. We help you decide with numbers, not guesswork. For the basics, see Vendor Central vs Seller Central.
The risky part is the overlap. Amazon may keep selling 1P stock it has already bought, sometimes at a different price, while your 3P offers start on the same ASINs. If this is not planned, the Buy Box moves around, ads point at offers you do not control, and sales dip. We time the switch around remaining POs, keep your detail pages under your Brand Registry control, make sure FBA stock is in place before Amazon’s runs out and watch the Buy Box every day.
On 3P, the brand owns account health, inventory planning, fees and ads. The same in-house team that plans the move then runs Amazon account management, inventory and Amazon Ads in Seller Central. If you are staying on 1P for now, see our Amazon Vendor Central management. We cover every Amazon marketplace, including the US, the UK, Canada and Europe.

Yes. CommerceKind plans and runs 1P to 3P transitions: a product-level margin model, a staged timeline around remaining POs, Brand Registry and catalog control, 3P pricing, FBA set-up, ads moved to Seller Central and daily Buy Box monitoring during the switch.
It depends on your margins, catalog and team. Seller Central gives you pricing control and customer data but you run more of the operation. We model 1P and 3P margins product by product and recommend 1P, 3P or a hybrid.
1P (Vendor Central) means Amazon buys your products wholesale and resells them, setting the retail price. 3P (Seller Central) means you sell directly to shoppers on Amazon, set your own prices and manage inventory, fees and account health.
Usually not. Seller Central offers attach to the same ASINs, so reviews and sales history stay on the detail page. Rankings can move during the overlap, which is why we plan the timing and watch the Buy Box closely.
Amazon may continue to sell inventory it has already bought. We plan the switch around remaining POs and Amazon’s stock levels so your 3P offers are ready when its stock runs down.
Yes. Many brands keep some ASINs on Vendor Central and sell others through Seller Central. We plan which products sit where so 1P and 3P offers do not compete on the same ASIN.
Most transitions are planned over a few months, depending on your catalog, remaining POs and how quickly FBA stock can be built. We share a timeline after reviewing your account.
Yes. We manage Vendor Central for brands that stay on 1P, including purchase orders, chargebacks, shortage claims, content and Amazon Ads.
