Margin model by product
Price, referral and FBA fees, ad cost per unit and landed cost worked into a real contribution margin and a price floor for every product.
CommerceKind is an Amazon agency that sets pricing strategy for brands. Our in-house team works out each product’s true margin after fees and ad cost, sets price floors and targets, tests price points, watches competitor prices and the Featured Offer, plans deals, coupons and Prime Day pricing, and keeps prices consistent across Amazon, TikTok Shop and your own site. Every price change is judged on profit and sales together, not on sales alone.

Planned price tests with clear before-and-after reads on conversion, sessions, ad efficiency and profit, one variable at a time.
Your offer watched against other sellers and Amazon’s own price checks, so listings keep the Featured Offer without a race to the bottom.
Key competitors tracked by price, coupons and deals, so changes are a decision, not a reaction.
Coupons, Prime exclusive discounts, Lightning Deals and Prime Day and Black Friday pricing planned against margin and stock.
Amazon, TikTok Shop, Walmart and your own site kept in line, so one channel’s discount does not hurt another.
| Pricing choice | What can go wrong | What we usually recommend |
|---|---|---|
| Permanent discounting | Margin falls and the lower price becomes the new normal | Time-limited coupons and deals tied to a goal |
| Matching every competitor cut | A price war nobody wins | A floor from margin, and value shown in the listing instead |
| Launching too high | Low conversion and slow ranking | A launch price plan that steps up as reviews build |
| Lower price on another channel | Featured Offer issues and lost sales on Amazon | Price parity rules across channels |
| Deal without a stock plan | Stock-out during or after the event | Deal quantities set from inventory and lead times |

On Amazon, price affects far more than the margin on each sale. It changes conversion rate, which affects organic ranking and ad efficiency, and it affects whether your offer is shown as the Featured Offer. A price that looks competitive can still lose money once referral fees, FBA fees and advertising are counted. We start from contribution margin per product, so every pricing decision is made with the full cost in view. Our Amazon FBA profit calculator shows the same logic.
Many brands set a price at launch and never revisit it, or cut it whenever sales slow. We plan price tests on the products where price matters most, change one thing at a time and read the result on sessions, conversion, ad cost and profit. Sometimes a higher price sells nearly as many units at a much better margin; sometimes a small cut lifts ranking enough to pay for itself.
Coupons, Prime exclusive discounts and deals can lift sales and ranking, but used all the time they train shoppers to wait for a discount. We plan them around goals and events such as Prime Day and Black Friday, with stock and margin checked first. See our Amazon deals and coupons management and Black Friday and Cyber Monday pages.
Amazon checks your price against other offers and other places the product is sold. If another channel is much cheaper, or an unauthorized seller undercuts you, your listing can lose the Featured Offer. We keep prices consistent across channels and help with resellers through our Amazon unauthorized sellers service. When sales have already fallen, our lost Buy Box page explains the common causes.
We manage $3M+ in monthly ad spend across our clients and look at price and ads together, because a price change moves ad efficiency too. In one account, net profit grew from $697,575 to $784,952 year on year: see our profitability case study. Results depend on product, margin and category.

Yes. CommerceKind sets Amazon pricing strategy for brands: a margin model and price floor per product, planned price tests, Featured Offer and competitor price monitoring, deals, coupons and event pricing, and price parity across Amazon, TikTok Shop, Walmart and your own site.
Start from your contribution margin after referral fees, FBA fees, ad cost per unit and landed cost, and set a floor you will not go below. Then look at competing offers and test price points, judging each one on profit and conversion together, not on units alone.
Dynamic pricing means changing prices over time in response to demand, competition, stock and events. For brands, it works best inside clear rules: a margin-based floor, planned tests and event pricing, rather than automatic cuts every time a competitor moves.
Where it helps, yes, but always with floors and rules set from margin. For brand owners who are the main seller of their own products, planned pricing and channel parity usually matter more than fast automatic repricing.
Common causes are a price that is higher than recent prices for the same product, a lower price on another channel, another seller with a better offer, or stock and shipping issues. We check each one and fix the cause.
Usually not. Coupons and deals work best for launches, events and specific goals. Running them all the time lowers margin and can make shoppers wait for the next discount.
